After the 10th Doctor regenerated, the TARDIS handily made a brand-new Sonic Screwdriver. Lucky for the 11th Doctor, eh? After all, this one was an improved edition with extending clamps. And it looks really cool, which is probably why it's still used by the 12th Doctor!

Nobody actually realised back then, but the TARDIS made a whole bunch of these Sonic Screwdrivers. Which we've located in time & space for you ;).

Okay, we've had to reset them a little... We've had to kind of depower a little so they can no longer actually manipulate door locks and credit cards, –after all, we don't want them falling into the wrongs hands now, do we?!

But, great news: –these Sonic Screwdrivers are button-on brilliant for controlling devices via infrared. Yay!

Function and modes

Your new Sonic Screwdriver features 4 modes, selected using the button on the top:

-Practice mode: The functions you'll save later on are controlled through movements. But first, you have to practice these moves so you can, for example, start a Doctor Who DVD off the cuff :). The Sonic Screwdriver tells you if you made the correct move.

-Control mode: In this mode, the Sonic works as an infrared remote control and you can execute the programmed functions. With every action, the tip lights up and you hear the typical sonic buzz.

-FX mode: This mode lets you feel like you're actually the 12th Doctor ;). The device doesn't give a signal to other devices, but it lights up and makes different buzz sounds when you push the button. Lay it aside in this mode and the Screwdriver will light up from time to time. After a while, it starts to send messages from the Doctor in Morse code. Of course, you can extend the characteristic clamps at the tip in a dramatic way.

-In addition, you can use the Sonic Screwdriver to switch off nearly every TV or screen. So, if you don't appreciate the TV program, the game or whatever's on screen, just walk Doctor-like to the device, whir and light a little bit and viola, the screen is off! –Just like it works with the real Doctor :)!

-Of course, you don't want every Earthling messing around with your most important tool! –That's why there's a lock function that protects the Screwdriver with a code.

Programming and manual

The Sonic Screwdriver possesses 3 memory banks which can save 13 gestures/functions each. So altogether, you can save 39 individual orders. The multifunction remote control copies the functions directly from the regular remote control that belongs to the device you want to control with the Sonic. How that exactly works is described in the enclosed detailed and illustrated manual (in English). Here you'll find a description of all the possible gestures, too; for example, rotating clockwise, which is quite handy for turning up the volume :).

In addition, the manual shows a detailed constructional drawing of the device (see photo) with all the technical data. This plan demonstrates the technological superiority of the Time Lords and is good for decorating any Earthling's dwelling.

Materials and Accessories

The Sonic Screwdriver is made from the noble metals of Gallifrey, which means partly copper-plated, aluminium-copper-zinc, plus handy rubber and a high-grade plastic with a ceramic look. The exact compounds can be found on the constructional drawing.

When there's not enough space in your coat pocket, –or when you're not wearing one, –you can put your Sonic into the hanger in the TARDIS, or, mount it in the enclosed stand and watch its Morse codes come through... :).

All the Sonic Screwdriver needs in addition is some Earthly energy cells, namely 2 x AAA batteries, which aren't included.*

* You don't think the TARDIS runs on measly Earth micro-cells, do you?!

As TARDIS technology can hardly be copied, this is an officially licensed product.
