Description Touchatag
Touchatag is a complete RFID system for your computer. RFID stands for "Radio Frequency Identification" and this technology is now used in a variety of ways. It allows small RFID chips to be read wirelessly. Among other things, these chips are found in German passports, the new ID card, and, for example, in many electronic payment cards.
With Touchatag, you can now bring this technology directly to your home. The Touchatag system consists of 2 components: the reader and the RFID chips, called tags. The tags are embedded in small stickers so you can attach them anywhere. The reader is connected to your computer via USB and makes it possible to read the identification number in the associated tags. You can then program a small action for each tag that is executed as soon as you bring the tag near the reader. For example, business cards with a built-in link to your Xing profile or books that are automatically read aloud when you place them on the reader are possible. The actions for the tags are stored by the manufacturer and retrieved over the Internet, so a tag not only works on your local computer but also anywhere a Touchatag reader is available.
The reader is approximately 6x10x1cm in size and the tags have a diameter of 3cm. The software for the reader works under Windows XP, Vista, and Mac OS X from 10.4. The reader comes with 10 tags (RFID chip stickers), additional stickers can be reordered in packs of 25.
Please note:
Touchatag is no longer produced. However, there are alternatives that can also be operated with Touchatag hardware, e.g. Iotope.
