Of all people, it is seventeen year old Fio who takes over the design. Porco is skeptical, until he watches her work through the night and present a plan in the morning that would make any veteran engineer turn pale.

The Porco Rosso Model Kit Fio's Sleepless Night by Fine Molds captures exactly this moment: Fio stretches wearily on her stool, her feet in red striped stockings braced against the drawing board where the blueprint of the plane hangs. All around are windows, a hanging lamp, a coffee pot, paper rolls and crumpled drafts on the wooden floor. You assemble the 1:48 scale model yourself and paint it however you like. Paints and tools are not included and the instructions are in Japanese, but the pictures speak for themselves.

For Ghibli fans with a steady hand and a soft spot for night shifts at the drawing table. And if your own build lasts until dawn: Fio would understand. ;)
