Description: Trial by Trolley - A Cyanide & Happiness Card Game

  • Ethical card game for 3–13 players
  • Inspired by the infamous trolley problem mixed with dark humour
  • From the creators of the Cyanide & Happiness webcomic

Imagine the following situation: You’re on the steering lever of a train trolley that is rapidly racing down a set of train tracks. As you are approaching the next fork in the tracks, you spot two workers on the left tracks and a group of eight hikers on the right who ignored the warning signs and are walking on the tracks. It’s up to you whether you go left or right – and subsequently who gets to live and who gets to die…

Welcome to the philosophical trolley problem! Trial by Trolley – A Cyanide & Happiness Card Game takes the well-known dilemma and adds absurd situations and loads of dark humour into the mix. The result is a fun card game for 3–13 players in which one person gets to decide the fate of the others.

Players are divided into two groups and have to add cards to the two respective tracks. This might lead to your dad joining a scientist who has just discovered the cure for cancer on one side and a box of cute kittens next to a serial killer on the other side. Special cards allow you to modify the situation: How would you act if the scientist has an 80% chance of becoming the next Hitler, for example?

The “overrun” team gets a death marker for each player, and the role of the train conductor passes to the next player. The person with fewest death markers wins the game.
