Of all the versions of the famous starship "Enterprise", the NCC-1701-D was without doubt the most successful. Despite its comparatively short period of service of only eight years, it could boast considerably more successes and merits than all other Starfleet ships. This was not least due to the charismatic and shrewd Captain Jean-Luc Picard.
The loss of this ship in 2371 was a tough blow for the Starfleet, but a version of an alternate timeline was shown in the last episode of TNG. This highly modified version of the Enterprise is best recognized by its third warp nacelle which allowed the ship to reach speeds up to warp 13. This was made necessary by the Romulan-Klingon War in this reality which effectively barred safe travels through the neutral zone.
